As the warm sun starts to melt the snow and the days grow longer, we know that summer is finally upon us! I’m Ed Broadbelt, the proud owner of the Alpenglow Boat Company, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to another glorious season on Lake Tahoe.

This summer is extra special for us because we’re launching our brand-new website! We’ve made it easier than ever for you to book your perfect cruise, explore our offerings, and get to know our lovely boat, Radiance, a beautifully restored 1958 Century Coronado. Whether you’re a returning guest or new to the Alpenglow experience, we can’t wait to share this adventure with you.

Our cruises are the best way to explore Lake Tahoe in all its splendor. With a maximum of 6 people, they’re perfect for couples’ nights out, special occasions, or intimate weddings. Let’s dive into some fun and interesting facts about our beautiful Lake Tahoe:

  1. Deep and Clear: Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the U.S., reaching depths of 1,645 feet. Its water is so clear that in some places you can see over 70 feet down!
  2. Aged to Perfection: This stunning lake is around 2 million years old, making it one of the oldest lakes in the world.
  3. Big and Beautiful: Covering about 191 square miles, Lake Tahoe holds roughly 39 trillion gallons of water. That’s enough to supply everyone in the U.S. with 50 gallons of water per day for 5 years!
  4. Border Crossings: Lake Tahoe straddles the state line between California and Nevada, offering a unique blend of attractions and activities from both states.
  5. Snowy Peaks: The lake is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which receive an average of 300 to 500 inches of snow each year. This makes Tahoe a winter wonderland for skiing and snowboarding.
  6. Sunny Days: Despite the heavy snowfall, Tahoe enjoys around 275 sunny days a year, perfect for year-round outdoor adventures.
